Srinagar: Police in Sopore have arrested a “notorious” bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
A police party intercepted a Sumo cab (JK04B-9591) driven by Farooq Ahmad Ganie @Farooq Jandgur, son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie, resident of Sangrampora Sopore, at present Bunpora Langate Handwara, at a checkpoint at Degree College Crossing. During the search, 32 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession, following which Ganie was arrested and the vehicle seized, police said.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore for investigation, police said.
