On a daily basis, the operation of the MCMC is supervised by the District Information Officer (DIO) who is also designated as Nodal Officer MCMC and Media Communications. Other members of the committee include various Returning Officers and District Informatics Officers. This committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the compliance of media activities with established norms, particularly during election periods.

The MCMC operates 24×7 ensuring continuous monitoring of media content. The committee is managed by a team of 20 dedicated employees who work in shifts to provide uninterrupted service.

The Committee maintains efficiency and covers all hours; the MCMC employs a shift-based system. This ensures that at any given time, the cell is fully operational and capable of addressing any media-related issues that may arise.

The primary responsibilities of the MCMC include certifying political advertisements, checking paid news, addressing fake news, monitoring media coverage for adherence to the Model Code of Conduct during elections, and ensuring that no misleading or objectionable content is disseminated.

The establishment of the MCMC underscores the district administration’s commitment to promoting transparency and fairness in media practices, particularly in the context of elections. This initiative aims to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process by preventing the spread of misinformation and ensuring that all media content is in line with legal and ethical standards.

The MCMC Cell at the DC Office Anantnag represents a significant step towards strengthening media oversight at the district level, contributing to the overall goal of maintaining a fair and transparent information environment.
