Srinagar: Police in Sopore have solved two burglary cases by arresting three accused persons and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.
He said acting on a complaint of one Gulshana Begum, wife of Aashiq Hussain of Kralteng Sopore, about the theft of jewellery from her home, a case was registered and during investigations one accused person — Saqib Lateef Sofi, son of Abdul Lateef Sofi of Sempora Sopore, was arrested. During questioning, he confessed his involvement in the theft, police said.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of two more persons — Aabid Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, of Zaloora Sopore, and Shakoor Ahmad Zargar, son of Mohammad Shafi Zargar, of Nigeenbagh Sopore (owner of S S Jewelers in Iqbal Market, Sopore). All the accused persons have been arrested.
From their possession, stolen property including one Kitty set, nine gold rings, two Jumkas, five gold coins, and two ear rings — valued around ₹6,10,000 — were recovered. Cash amounting to ₹1,30,000 was also recovered from the possession of accused Saqib Ahmad Sofi, police said.
