Tangmarg: In a shocking incident, a bear attacked and seriously injured a couple in the Sharai village of Tangmarg on Sunday.
The victims, Sanawullah Magray, son of Ali Muhammad Magray, and his wife, Sarwa Begum, were ambushed by the bear while they were cutting grass in their fruit garden for their cattle.
The bear, which had been hiding in the garden, suddenly charged at the couple, inflicting severe injuries on both. The couple was immediately rushed to the Tangmarg Sub-District Hospital, where doctors declared their condition critical. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to SKIMS for more advanced treatment.
Following the incident, concerned local residents have urged the Wildlife Department to take swift action by setting traps to capture the bear, which is reportedly still roaming near the village orchards. The community fears further attacks if the animal is not apprehended soon.
