   Labour Commr chairs meeting with Workers & Labour Unions at Budgam

BUDGAM: A meeting concerning the enrollment and issuance of ration cards to eligible E-Shram registrants was convened under the chairmanship of the Labour Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir, Charandeep Singh and was co-chaired by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Budgam Khursheed Ahmad shah at the Conference Hall, DC Office Budgam.

During the meeting, the Labour Commissioner was briefed on the progress achieved so far regarding the issuance of ration cards to E-Shram registrants and the pending cases in various circles. Out of a target of 2,414 left-out E-Shram registrants, 1,876 have already been matched and their details are ready for processing.

The concerned officials were directed to ensure that the remaining pending cases are resolved within the stipulated timeline so that the necessary response can be submitted before the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the next hearing.

The Labour Commissioner underscored the importance of cross-verifying all required information prior to submission. He also stressed the need to utilize the services of local labour unions for the identification of unmatched left-out E-Shram registrants, ensuring that no eligible worker is left out of the welfare schemes.

Following the meeting, the Labour Commissioner visited various establishments across Budgam and interacted directly with workers. During these visits, he assessed the facilities available to the workers and emphasized the need for employers to ensure the availability of all required amenities as mandated under labour laws. Employers were urged to comply with the standards to promote a safe and supportive working environment.

The meeting saw participation from officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Labour Department, representatives from the Construction Workers Union, Traders Unions, Shopkeepers Union, Motor Transport Undertakings, and other stakeholders.
