BJP has deceived the people of Jammu: Bhardwaj

Vijaypur: Issuing a clarion call to the people to teach the ruling BJP a lesson for its anti-people policies and the total failure of the “twin-engine” syndrome, often promoted as a solution to resolve public problems, senior Congress leader Mohinder Bhardwaj said that due to the colossal failure of the Centre and the BJP-driven LG administration in J&K, the people of Jammu are suffering through no fault of their own.

Addressing a large “Nyay Rally” here today, organized to highlight the problems faced by the public due to an unresponsive governing system, he said that the upcoming assembly elections would be an opportunity for the people to hold the guilty accountable. “Soon, the people’s court will be asked to deliver its judgment. It will be your golden opportunity to demand explanations from BJP leaders and candidates when they seek your votes. Consign them to the dustbin through the ballot so that they do not dare to take you for granted in the future,” he said.

Bhardwaj stated that the past track record proves that only Congress stands by the poor, downtrodden, farmers, women, small traders, and other sections of society. “Recently, our leader Mr. Rahul Gandhi has shown through his actions, not merely words, how these commitments are fulfilled, and we will all follow this path,” he said.

He added that the so-called “double-engine sarkar” has failed the people of Jammu on all fronts. The people of the Jammu region, particularly those in the Vijaypur assembly segment, have been left to fend for themselves, both in terms of protecting their political empowerment, land, and employment rights, and on issues related to basic survival. On top of that, they are suffering daily due to a lack of basic amenities such as regular power and water supply, good roads, and the tax-terrorism unleashed by the government.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of the statehood status, which was duly granted to them by the Constitution in 1948, and with it, they have lost their identity. “Hollow promises are being made by the Government of India regarding the restoration of statehood. These are mere political stunts played on the people to secure their votes,” he said.

Launching a broadside against the administration, he criticized the authorities for turning a blind eye to the serious problem of unemployment. It has reached alarming proportions, and the frustrated unemployed youth are being driven to extreme ends due to the government’s total failure. “The government is spreading complete falsehoods about providing thousands of jobs to youth. Where is the proof, and where are the jobs?” he asked the administration.

Drawing attention to the pathetic conditions of civic amenities and roads in Purmandal Block, Bari Brahmana, Vijaypur, and other towns and villages in the area, he demanded that the government immediately provide power and water supply to the people, including farmers, at subsidized rates so that they can sustain their livelihoods.

Others present at the occasion included Sardar Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee, Adv Munish Choudhary, Adv Jagpreet, Dr. Rajesh, Rashpal Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Sh. Rakesh Chalotra, Babu Ram Saini, Jeet Raj, Dr. Ramesh Choudhary, and several former sarpanches, panches, and other prominent persons from all three blocks of the Vijaypur constituency.
