Srinagar: The Additional Director of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain Friday informed that they have recovered heroin which he said was worth Rs 33 crore, from the bus stand even as one person from Punjab was also arrested.
The police chief said that they had received information about two persons carrying a large bag, following which he said police arrested one person and seized the bag. He provided no information about the second person.
The arrested person, he said, is from Punjab, and that his actual age and other details would be established after investigations, news agency KNO reported.
The initial investigations, the police chief also revealed that the consignment had come from the border area. To whom it was being smuggled to and who had handed over the consignment is yet to be known, he said.
While it is not for the first time a Punjab resident has been arrested in Jammu, the ADGP said that it is not known whether the consignment was received through an air drop or any other means.
