Srinagar admin issues advisory in view of forecast of inclement weather

Srinagar: The administration in Srinagar on Thursday issued an advisory in view of the inclement weather forecast of rainfall for brief period and possibility of flash-floods, cloud-bursts, mudslides, landslides from 1st to 5th August and then from 6th to 10th August at scattered places by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar Station.

The people, especially those residing along the banks of river Jhelum, its tributaries and stream and the upper reaches of Tehsil North and Panthachowk in particular are advised to refrain from venturing in and around these water-bodies, the administration said.

The Tehsildars of Tehsil North and Panthachowk are informed to activate the zonal committees of upper reaches in case of flash floods, landslides and cloud bursts, before any untoward incident happens and also monitor the situation regularly till the improvement of weather, the advisory reads.

Further, the tourists, boatmen, sand-miners, and boat crossing points have been asked to verify the situation of water-bodies before crossing over.
