Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession. Another drug peddler was arrested in Sopore, a police spokesperson informed.
He said acting on specific information, a raid was carried out in a shopping complex at Nipora, Kulgam in the presence of Executive Magistrate Wanpoh. He said 30.8 Kg of poppy-straw-like substance was recovered during the raid and one accused Mohammad Ashraf Khanday, son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday, resident of Nippora, was also arrested on the spot.
In Sopore, police recovered 31 bottles of Codeine Phosphate syrup from a specific spot. The accused Owais Mushtaq Hakeem, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Hakeem, resident of Model Town D was arrested in this connection.
Cases have been registered for further investigation.
