The Delhi-based company acknowledged the lapse and a case was compounded under section 48 of the Legal Metrology Act 2009 against a payment of Rs.01 lakh by the Deputy Controller, Consumer Protection Kashmir after an undertaking was submitted by the manufacturer that such an offence would not be repeated in future.

The swift administrative action and the manufacturer’s acceptance of responsibility underscore the regulatory framework’s role in consumer protection and market fairness.

Directions for such consistent market checking campaigns were issued to the field executives of the department by Controller, Legal Metrology J&K Govt., Majid Khalil Drabu to serve the consumer interest.

Awareness is being created by the Legal Metrology Department about the importance of adhering to legal standards for packaged commodities.
