Srinagar: At a press conference held by the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM & WS), Principal Hem Chandra Singh announced a series of initiatives aimed at promoting adventure tourism and engaging the youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event highlighted the institution’s commitment to enhancing the region’s appeal as a prime destination for adventure enthusiasts.

Promoting Adventure Tourism: Enhancing the appeal of Jammu and Kashmir as a prime destination for adventure tourism.
Youth Engagement: Exposing the youth to the natural beauty of the region and fostering a spirit of adventure among them.
Opportunities for Youth: Providing opportunities for both qualified and non-qualified youth to engage in mountain climbing.
Instructor Training: Offering refresher training programs for instructors to maintain high standards of safety and skill.
During his PowerPoint presentation, Singh detailed the various aspects of mountaineering and winter sports training provided by the institution. He showcased the types of training offered to trainees and the locations where camps are established during the harsh winter conditions to ensure effective and safe training.
In his address, Singh emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering adventure tourism and youth development. “We are committed to promoting adventure tourism and providing our youth with opportunities to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. Our training programs are designed to equip them with the necessary skills and confidence to safely enjoy and engage in mountaineering and winter sports,” he said.
Singh also shared his personal achievements and future aspirations, revealing that he successfully climbed four mountains this year out of his goal of nine. He announced his ambitious plan to summit Mount Everest next year, underscoring his dedication to the spirit of adventure and the mission of Jim & WS.
