Born on February 5, 1985, in Madeira, Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is widely regarded as a footballing legend. His journey to stardom wasn’t without its challenges. Ronaldo was expelled from school for throwing a chair at a teacher and was later diagnosed with a heart condition. His parents worked tirelessly to save him, and after successful surgery, he was discharged from the hospital. Despite his father’s struggle with alcoholism, Cristiano’s determination never wavered.

Ronaldo began his career in Portugal and signed with Sporting Lisbon at the age of 16, wearing the number 28 jersey. It was Laszlo Boloni who discovered his immense talent. During a friendly match in 2003 against Manchester United, Ronaldo’s exceptional performance caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, who was then the manager of Manchester United. Impressed by his skills, Ferguson signed the young prodigy, and Ronaldo’s career took off.

At Manchester United, Ferguson played a crucial role in shaping Ronaldo into one of the world’s best players. Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or, awarded to the best player annually, during his time at United, along with achieving a treble. In 2009, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he continued to amass accolades. He won the Champions League in 2013 and another Ballon d’Or, solidifying his place among the football elite.

A fierce debate emerged comparing Ronaldo with Lionel Messi, the Argentine footballer who had also won multiple Champions Leagues and Ballon d’Ors. Despite the rivalry, Ronaldo’s achievements continued to pile up. He won the Champions League three consecutive times in 2016, 2017, and 2018 and added two more Ballon d’Ors to his collection.

Ronaldo’s journey then took him to Juventus, where he won the Serie A title twice. He later returned to Manchester United but often found himself on the bench. Unhappy with his situation, he declared he would no longer play for the club. Ronaldo then made a move to Al Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia, where he currently serves as the captain. Additionally, he continues to lead the Portugal national team. Over his illustrious career, Ronaldo has won numerous titles, including the Euro, La Liga, Premier League, Serie A, Champions League, and multiple Ballon d’Ors, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest footballers of all time.
