Ganderbal: Two women died when a vehicle hit them in  Gagangeer area of Ganderbal on Thursday late evening.

An official told KNO) that the accident took place when a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK01AS 4824 hit two pedestrians.

“The vehicle was driven by Altaf Ahmad, a resident of Rajouri and he was arrested,” an official said.

The deceased women were identified as Zareefa wife of Nisar Ahmad Mir and Sabreena wife of Ajaz Ahmad Bhat both residents of Gagangeer. The duo was walking on the roadside when the vehicle hit them.

He added that both were rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kullan for treatment.

But the women were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Police have taken up the investigation and arrested the driver of the vehicle.
