New Delhi: Ghulam Ahmad Mir, AICC General Secretary and Former J&K Congress President, has expressed deep concern over the plight of CIC Operators in the Rural Development Department (RDD).

“Despite their qualifications and talents, these operators are earning a mere Rs. 10,000 per month, equivalent to Rs. 333 per day. This meager income is insufficient to support their families and provide education for their children,” said Mir.

Mir highlighted the ongoing financial crisis faced by CIC Operators due to their low wages and the long-pending process of their regularization. “It is strange and unfortunate that the services of CIC Operators have not been regularized despite their qualifications and length of service. A proper mechanism for regularization should have been in place long ago,” Mir stated.

Addressing the hardships these workers face, Mir urged the government to enhance the wages of CIC Operators and initiate their regularization process. “Given their qualifications and dedication to the department, CIC Operators deserve better. The government must develop a regularization policy for them and other daily wage employees across various departments to alleviate the financial burdens on their families. This is a human issue that needs urgent attention,” he said.

In addition to the concerns about the RDD, Mir criticized the Power Development Department for issuing unexpectedly high electricity bills to residents, with amounts ranging from Rs. 900 to Rs. 2,100 or more. He described these actions as punitive and reflective of the department’s failure, exacerbating the economic distress caused by inflation. Mir called for an immediate rollback of the electricity hike to relieve the affected consumers.
