10 J&K pilgrims die due to heatwave during Hajj

Hundreds died during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia amid intense heat, officials say

Srinagar: Ten pilgrims from J&K including six from Srinagar district have died due to the heatwave while performing Hajj.

Quoting sources, the news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that 10 pilgrims including six from Srinagar, two from Kulgam and one each from Baramulla and Jammu have died during this year’s pilgrimage owing to heatwave conditions in Saudi Arabia.

The deceased pilgrims from Srinagar have been identified as Mubina Akhter from Nowshera, Jana Begum from Karewa Damodar, Manzoor Ahmad Rangrez and Rifat from Rawalpora, Tahira from Chattabal and Sara Begum from Sanat Nagar.

Pilgrims from Kulgam include Hafeeza from Kharbrari Yaripora and Maneera Banoo from Hambatanpora Okey while pilgrim from Baramulla is Bashir Ahmad from Badambagh Sopore, and Aziza Begum is from Gujjar Nagar, Jammu.
