Police attaches properties of two drug peddlers in Kulgam

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have attached properties belonging to two “notorious” drug peddlers in Kulgam, a police spokesperson informed Friday.

He said a double-storied residential house and a cowshed belonging to Bashir Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Ahsan Ganie of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund, presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu under PIT NDPS Act and, newly a constructed two-storied residential house of Ghulam Nabi Kuttay, son of Abdul Aziz Kuttay of Kaladrund, Frisal, also presently in police custody, have been attached.

The actions were taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 and are linked with case FIR no 40/2023 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act of Police Station Qazigund and FIR No. 26/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Yaripora, respectively.

The properties were identified as “illegally acquired properties during the course of investigation by police. The properties were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the above-mentioned drug peddlers,” police said.
