2 persons drown to death in Jhelum in Sumbal and Srinagar

Srinagar: A youth drowned to death in River Jhelum in Sumbal area of north Kashmir Bandipora district on Monday afternoon.

An official said that 20-years-old Mohammad Ashraf Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani of Inderkote Sumbal drowned in the river at Rakhi Asham while he was taking a bath in it.

He said that soon after the incident, a rescue operation was started and the body of the drowned man was fished out.

Police have registered a case in this regard.

In Srinagar, a man slipped to death into the Jhelum River in Batwara area today afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Nasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gulam Mohammad Sheikh of Batwara.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and investigation has been initiated.
