Kulgam sees strong voter turnout as residents vote for development and basic needs redressal

Kulgam: Kulgam district, part of the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency, witnessed a significant influx of voters who cast their ballots for development and the redressal of basic needs.

Voters thronged the 364 polling stations set up throughout the district. Among these were nine special polling stations, including Pink, Green, Youth, and PwD-manned stations.

The district saw a massive turnout compared to the 2019 elections, reflecting a renewed enthusiasm for electoral participation.

The district comprises three constituencies: Devsar, Kulgam, and D.H. Pora. The Devsar constituency saw a voter turnout of 44 percent, Kulgam recorded 32 percent, and D.H. Pora had an impressive 55 percent turnout.

Mohd Aslam, an elderly voter from D.H. Pora, told Kashmir Images that he has been voting for many years and continues to do so. He expressed his hopes for development, prosperity, and the resolution of daily needs, believing that the candidate he supported would provide the best service to the community.

Mohd Haris, a young voter in Kulgam who recently graduated, said he looks forward to a bright future. He described the electoral process as the biggest festival of democracy and an opportunity to choose the right leader.

Haris said that he voted with the aim of electing a candidate who would lead them to prosperity and provide better opportunities. He also said that Kulgam district has the potential to excel in various fields and that it’s important to have the right leadership to guide them on the right path.
