Terrorist associate booked under PSA; 4 drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act

Srinagar: Police have booked a “terrorist associate” linked with proscribed outfit LeT under PSA and four “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore and Handwara, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.

He said the “terrorist associate” named Ahsan Ul Haq Khanday, son of Nazir Ahmad Khanday, resident of Nowpora Kalan Sopore, has been booked under PSA while as three drug smugglers — Barkat Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar of Shair Colony Sopore; Umar Bashir Zargar, son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar of Behrampora Rafiabad; and Musaib Bashir Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone of Wadoora Payeen Sopore — have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore. The booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-BHalwal, Jammu.

Police in Handwara also booked drug peddler Aijaz Ahamd Bhat alias Tanveer, son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat of Kralgund Qaziabad under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining a formal detention order from the competent authority. The booked drug peddler has been detained and subsequently lodged in jail.
