Considered to be one of the golden opportunities for the employees to showcase their talent and passion for the game, besides earning recognition, the Secretary Sports Council remarked that the main aim of conducting this event is to emphasize the importance of sports and relieve the professionals of stress, related to their job profiles.

The first of the tournament was played between the J&K Finance Cricket Legends and Secretary Sports Council-XI which was won by the former convincingly riding on the match-winning performance of Nadeem who scored a quick-fire half-century and claimed four wickets in his economic spell.

The second match of the fixture was played between the team of Information Department and Secretariat Titans which turned out to be a drab squib with the former after winning the toss and electing to bat first were bundled out for 77 runs only. While chasing, Secretariat Titans completed the target in just 7 overs, hitting the ball all over the park.

The tournament is being organized under the banner of “Har Din Khel Har Ek Ke Liye Khel” and shall be played on holidays only.

Meanwhile, the recent Hockey workshop for toddlers, jointly organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and the Badal Hockey Club, witnessed an extraordinary turnout by the young children who were also accompanied by their parents. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to the basics of field hockey and foster a love for the sport from an early age.

The naysayers under the guidance of senior players from the Badal Hockey Club were taught the nuances of the game, especially skills like dribbling, passing, and teamwork. The workshop emphasized the importance of physical activity, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Parents and guardians actively supported the initiative, recognizing the value of sports in holistic child development.

“The overwhelming response to this workshop underscores the growing interest in hockey among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” said Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull, adding that the collaboration between Sports Council and the Badal Hockey Club promises a bright future for the sport in the region.

Gull also said that, as toddlers take their first steps on the hockey field, they become part of a legacy that celebrates teamwork, resilience, and passion.
