According to the Station House Officer of Ganderbal, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad, the absconding accused, identified as Manzoor Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani from the same locality, was arrested near his home after extensive efforts and effective use of technology by Ganderbal Police. He said the accused had tried hard to evade arrest, but the police team did its best to locate and apprehend the culprit within hours. The accused is now behind bars.

When asked about the actual reason for the scuffle and the motive behind the murder, the SHO said the matter is under investigation.

Notably, shopkeeper Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hasan Dar, the owner of a ready-made shop in Kachan Pirpora, was seriously injured in the attack by the accused with a sharp knife yesterday. The attacker, Manzoor Ahmad Wani, fled the crime scene.

In the meantime, the critically injured shopkeeper was taken to the hospital, but he could not survive and lost his life due to a deep stab wound in the chest near his heart.

A criminal case has been registered in this regard under FIR No. 109/2024, under sections 307, 452, and 302, at the Ganderbal police station, he added.
