Srinagar: Police have booked a “notorious” drug smuggler under the PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore, a police spokesperson informed Friday.

He said Mohammad Asif Dar alias Aash Manut, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar of Mumkak Butpora Sopore, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. He has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal, Jammu.

Police said that many cases have been registered against the said drug smuggler and that he was involved in the “drug abuse trade” by supplying drugs to the local youth of the Police District Sopore and other areas of the district.
