JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today reviewed progress on providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to the beneficiaries under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across the districts of J&K.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Mission Director, JJM, Chief Engineers of Jal Shakti Jammu/Kashmir besides other senior officers of the department.

The Chief Secretary enquired about the status of Panchayats fully covered under the mission and households certified as ‘Nal se Jal’ during the 3rd party evaluation. He took stock of work progress on different schemes and asked for completion within the given deadline of June 2024.

Dulloo also enquired about the status of issues raised in the last meeting. He exhorted upon the Engineers of the department to be proactive in the field and closely monitor the quality of work. He asked the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineers to visit the sites for proper supervision and timely completion.

The Chief Secretary had PHE division-wise appraisal of allotted, under execution and completed works till date across all districts of the UT. He also enquired about the scheme-wise performance of the department.

He asked about the monitoring of the water quality of completed schemes besides assessing the feasibility of labs established by the department for this purpose. He asked for imparting necessary training to the Pani Samities and those who would run these schemes in the villages as per the guidelines of the Mission.

ACS Jal Shakti, Shaleen Kabra, presented a detailed outline of the progress made in the implementation of this mission in the UT. He revealed that till date the Mission has achieved 78% of its target. He gave scheme-wise allotment for each division of the department.

Besides, the JJM authorities presented details about Har Ghar Jal certified Panchayats/villages. They also gave the status of testing done in their labs established across the districts. It was added that the testing is being done by the Schools, Anganwadi Centers and village women through the use of Free Testing Kits (FTKs) made available to them by the Department.
