Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed profound anguish over the havoc caused by flash floods, and landslides triggered by heavy rains in Kupwara, Poonch and Ramban districts.

Asking the J&K administration to come to the rescue of affected households, the duo stressed upon them to come to the rescue of the flash flood, landslide-affected families across Kashmir and Jammu provinces and provide them with all help including monetary compensation, living shelters and food items.

In a joint statement party’s constituency incharges Nasir Aslam Wani, Choudhary Ramzan, Mir Saifullah, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Dr. Sajad Shafi Uri, Ajaz Jan, Sajjad Shaheen demanded that after a complete assessment of damaged crops and agricultural land, compensation be provided to affected farmers and horticulturalists. They further demanded immediate restoration of all main arterials and link roads on a priority basis.

“The concerned departments must release immediate preliminary relief in terms of free rations and financial assistance in favour of the victims till a survey is conducted to ascertain the actual losses,” they said.
