Jammu: Police on Sunday said that they have solved the case of Miran Sahib firing incident by arresting three persons involved in it.

Quoting from a police handout, GNS reported that on April 27 evening, local miscreants (criminals) had fired upon Khajuria Food Mall at Miran Sahib, and had also asked for ransom. After this incident, miscreants repeated the episode at Chohalla, RS Pura.

The police spokesman stated that in this regard a case FIR No. 44/307 336 34 IPC, & 3/25, 3/27 Arms Act was registered in Police Station Miran Sahib and a case FIR No 74/2024 U/S 452/307/34, IPC & 3/25, 3/27 Arms Act was registered in Police Station RS Pura and investigation started instantly begin.

Subsequently, police teams were formed which raided various places based upon the human intelligence and technical surveillance, which was kept on these miscreants, he said.

CCTV footage from the place of occurrence and adjacent areas were also collected and analysed and the police teams succeeded in identifying and finally apprehending the three main accused who had fired on the Khajuria Food Mall and in Chohalla, RS Pura. A ‘Desi Katta’ (country-made pistol) along with live cartridges was also recovered, he said.

During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in the firing incident, demanding ransom and committing the crime, police said.

Police identified the accused as Guga and Krrish, both residents of RS Pura area, and Kulbir Bhagat alias Rinku, son of Bhushan Lal of Langotiyan, RS Pura.

Police said that Kulbir Bhagat is also involved in a rape case filed at Police Station Bishna.

The police was also successful in recovering the motorcycle and scooty used in the commission of offence, he said.

The police are also investigating the role of people who have provided logistic support to these criminals. Moreover police are also investigating the role of notorious criminal Arun Choudhary alias Abu Jatt, who is currently lodged at District Jail Kathua and role of his associates and also those people who are in touch with him. Besides, police are also investigating the authenticity of a few social media updates including Instagram posts, reads the statement.
