Pattan: In a significant political shift, Former Member of Parliament and Senior Political Leader A R Shaheen has announced his support for National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, who is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the Baramulla constituency.

Addressing his supporters at his residence in Pattan today, Shaheen declared his endorsement of Omar Abdullah in the upcoming polls, stating, “I am pleased to announce that I will be supporting Omar Abdullah.”

This announcement marks a pivotal moment in the political landscape of North Kashmir, as Shaheen’s support brings considerable influence and resources to Abdullah’s campaign.

Speaking further, Shaheen emphasized Omar Abdullah’s suitability for the Baramulla parliamentary seat, saying, “Omar Abdullah has emerged as the preferred candidate for the Lok Sabha elections in Baramulla parliamentary constituency, and while respecting the sentiment of the people, I have decided to support him in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.”
