Earlier in the day Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi filed nomination papers for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat as the candidate of the opposition INDIA bloc. He was accompanied by Vice President JKNC Omar Abdullah and Congress General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir, party leaders Sakina Itoo, and Dr Bashir Veeri on the occasion. Mian Altaf filed the nomination papers before Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syed Fakhruddin, who is the returning officer of the constituency.

Addressing the rally in Bontoor, which was organized by Senior leader Peer Mohammad Hussain Soharwardhy and Youth leader Hashim Hussain, Omar said the BJP was busy fielding proxies against NC. “If what BJP is saying is correct then why are they not announcing any candidates for the three seats in the valley? It seems they have realised that their political capital is very limited in this segment in spite of so many machinations,” he said adding, “All the parties will try to lure voters by promises and slogans however it’s for the people to make a better choice. Mian Altaf is the best choice as he understands and represents a wide spectrum of people in both South Kashmir and Pir Panjal areas,” he said.

Continuing his address, Omar said, “On the voting day i.e May 07, people have listened to all candidates will weigh them, judge them and then decide who can be the best candidate to represent them at the highest forum. Conspiracies will be hatched and various claims will be made. There is no dearth of aspirants for this seat, but if you look at all the candidates, their character, the way they speak, the way they interact with people, which party they stand with and which party has represented here in the past, then you will come to the conclusion that there is no other candidate like Mian Altaf Ahmed to represent this constituency.”

Among others, Additional General Secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Senior leaders Sakina Itoo, Sajjad Kitchloo, Rattan Lal Gupta, Political Advisor to VP Mudassar Shahmiri, VP Province Dr Bashir Veeri, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, South Zone President Syed Tauqeer Ahmad, District Presidents Altaf Ahmad Wani, Sajjad Shaheen, party leaders Adv Riyaz Khan, Choudhary Zaffar were present on the occasion.
