As wet weather continues, authorities urge people to not venture in and around water-bodies

Srinagar: In view of the continuing wet weather and predictions for more, authorities have urged people to refrain from venturing in and around the water-bodies.

“In view of the inclement weather with forecast of rainfall from 18th-20th April by the Indian Meteorological department (IMD) Srinagar station, the people of the district in general, and those residing along the left and right banks of River Jhelum and its tributaries and ‘Nallahs’ in particular, are advised to refrain from venturing in and around these water-bodies and limit their activities till the improvement of weather,” reads an advisory issued by District Magistrate Srinagar.

Tourists, local Shikara-wallas, sand miners, and individuals using boat-crossing points for travel in Dal Lake and River Jhelum are cautioned against crossing before verifying the condition and situation of these water-bodies, the advisory cautions.

The general public can contact Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Srinagar and Police Control Srinagar for any information, it said.
