Srinagar: The Consumer Court in Baramulla has taken a significant step by directing the Treasury Officer and JK Bank TP in Baramulla to seize the salary account of the Power Development Department (PDD), owing to their non-compliance with court orders.
This development stems from a recent verdict in a case titled Abdul Ahad Khan vs. Assistant Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Baramulla. Mr. Khan, the complainant, brought forward allegations that the Department had issued an unjustified power bill in his name.
In response to Mr. Khan’s grievances, the court issued an order for the respondents to compensate him with Rs. 30,000 for the mental anguish endured. Despite the court’s clear directive dated 28/12/2023, the respondents failed to meet their obligations.
In light of this failure to comply with the court’s judgment, the Consumer Court has instructed the Treasury Officer in Baramulla and JK Bank TP in Baramulla to take necessary action by seizing the respondent’s salary account until the next scheduled hearing.
