4 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Tuesday.

He said in Baramulla, at a checkpoint at Guage Crossing Kreeri, one Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani alias Jana, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Waripora Bala, was arrested after 50 grams of contraband cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

In Sopore, at Iqbal Market, two persons — Jahangir Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Muhammad Shah, and Owais Ahmad Shah, son of Noor Muhammad Shah of Neharpora Sopore – were arrested after their search yielded 110 grams of cannabis-like substance, 242 tablets/capsules of banned drugs and cash of ₹35,000.

In Kulgam, near ITI KB Pora, 4.446 Kgs of Ganja-like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from the procession of one Mohammad Abass Shah, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Shah of KB Pora, who has been arrested.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
