Eight ‘miscreants’ booked under PSA in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla said they have booked eight ‘miscreants’ under Public Safety Act and subsequently lodged them in separate jails.

“Acting tough against miscreants and criminals Baramulla Police booked eight persons — Waqar Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad of New Colony Kreeri; Danish Hussain Gojree, son of Abdul Gaffar of Takisultan Drangbal; Taseen Ahmad Hurra, son of Mohammad Ramzan of Pethpora Hamrey; Mohammad Abdullah Bhat, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of New Colony Palhallan; Mohammad Ashraf Wani alias Ashraf Haji, son of Mohammad Munawar of Utikoo Kunzer; Suhail Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Sheikh Mohalla Kunzer; Touseef Ahmad Akhoon, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Khanpora; and Abdul Majeed Shah, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, resident of Iqbal Colony Pattan, under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority,” reads a police statement.

It said the booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur and Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal, Jammu.

Police said that many cases are registered against these persons and they were involved in disturbance of public order, and in criminal activities and subversion. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their behavior, and thus were proceeded against under the Public Safety Act, reads the statement.
