Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Addl General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said that people are readying themselves to give BJP a befitting reply through ballot in the ensuing general elections.

This he, according to the NC spokesperson, said while interacting with party functionaries in Jammu. “Our struggle for restoration of our abridged rights will continue. But of course, the immediate focus is on assembling all anti-BJP forces and precluding the BJP from capturing democratic spaces in Jammu & Kashmir. I can sense that people are readying themselves to give the BJP a befitting reply through the ballot. There is a groundswell of anger against the BJP and this needs to be demonstrated. There is an increasing realisation in the people of Jammu that BJP has denuded them of their exclusive land, job rights and contracts. The complete failure of BJP in living upto their promises on development has also badly exposed their double standards,” he said.

“As far as the UT administration’s tall claims of development are concerned, everyone is aware of the scale of resentment in the people. The tall talks do not match the ground reality,” he said adding, “Most schemes are in limbo after their announcement with much fanfare. Public welfare schemes initiated during Omar sb led NC govt were renounced midway.”
