CEO reviews arrangements for Lok Sabha Elections in Kulgam & Shopian

KULGAM: Chief Electoral Officer, P K Pole, today visited Kulgam and took stock of arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of upcoming general elections in the district.

The CEO, during his visit, inspected Distribution cum Collection centres set up at GDC D H Pora, GDC Kulgam and had a detailed assessment of arrangements being put in place for the safety, surveillance and security of Election-related material and machinery to be kept at these centres during Lok Sabha polls in the Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency.

Later, the CEO also chaired a meeting at the mini-secretariat Kulgam to review preparations being made for the General Election 2024.

The meeting was attended by District Election Officer Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, AROs, Dy-DEOs, Nodal Officers besides other stakeholders.

The meeting had a detailed review of District Election Management Plans for the district and discussions covered manpower management, EVM transportation, polling staff and security and other related arrangements.

The DEO, through a power PowerPoint presentation, apprised the chair of the district profile informing that the first randomization of EVMs has been done in the presence of National and State level-recognised political parties.

He also informed that a 24×7 robust control room is functioning in the district and SVEEP activities are being carried out as per the formulated plan

The CEO instructed the concerned officers to continue the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities with a focus on educating and engaging voters effectively.

The DEO also informed the CEO that there are a total of 364 polling stations including 03 women polling stations, 03 PWD, 03 youth manned polling stations and 15 Model polling stations in the district.

The CEO stressed to initiate plantation drives at all Polling stations.

During the meeting, the SSP briefed the CEO about the security arrangements made in the district for elections.

Emphasizing the importance of Adequate Minimum Facilities (AMF), the CEO asked the concerned to ensure clean washrooms, drinking water, first aid and proper electricity for polling staff and security personnel on Election Day.

Meanwhile, while talking to media persons, the CEO said that elaborated arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the General Elections 2024.

He appealed to the people to exercise their right to vote.

Later, the CEO also visited the control room and media Centre at the mini-secretariat.

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), P.K. Pole, visited Shopian to assess the election preparedness of the district administration for the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha 2024.

He visited the Strong Room along with DEO, Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb and had a detailed inspection of the facility.

Afterwards, the CEO chaired a meeting of the Nodal Officer and AROs at the Mini Secretariat, wherein the DEO through power point presentation presented the comprehensive plan details of major components of election preparedness. He informed that all arrangements for ensuring free and fair elections in the district have been made.

The meeting took stock of critical components of the ongoing election process including reviewing Transport, training, Material Management, Dispatch, MCC, etc.

The CEO stressed for taking periodic sanitation drives in the premises of polling stations and their immediate surroundings to ensure neat and clean polling spots. He asked the concerned officers to rope in village-level field functionaries for facilitation and support of polling parties.

He also emphasized for conducting SVEEP activities in schools and colleges and ensuring all minimum facilities at polling stations across the district.

The CEO also attended a training session for Polling staff. While interacting with them, he stressed upon the staff detailed for election duties to understand the election rules and guidelines well so that conduct of the election process is done as per norms and in an efficient manner.

SSP, Tanushree, ADDC, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone, ADC, Dr Zakir Hussain Faaz, AROs, Nodal Officers and other concerned were present on the occasion.
