DEO Sgr joins voter awareness prog under SVEEP at Tulip Garden

SRINAGAR: With a view to enhancing public participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha, 2024, the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Thursday joined a vibrant voter awareness programme organized by the District Election Authority at the world famous Tulip Garden under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

On the occasion, the District Election Officer Srinagar, who is also the Returning Officer(RO) for 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency along with Deputy District Election Officer, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Nodal Officer SVEEP/AMF, A.H.Fani, Deputy CEO Srinagar, Anjum Raja other Officers from Chief Education Office Srinagar, School Students, hundreds of Locals and Tourists visiting from across India captured memorable selfies at the SVEEP Selfie Stand set up by the District Election Authority Srinagar.

While interacting with the participants, District Election Officer Srinagar Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat urged every citizen to maximize voter turnout and highlighted initiatives like the Pink Booth established for Women Voters and Vote-from-Home facility for Senior citizens aged 85 and above.

The DEO said that the primary objective of organizing such events is to enhance voter awareness and boost public participation in the electoral process in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024.

The DEO urged Students to spread the message to their parents, relatives and community underscoring the significance of their participation in nation-building through elections. He said that a well-informed electorate is fundamental to ensuring a vibrant and representative democracy. He also interacted with the tourists visiting Tulip Garden and hoped that they all would also cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Deputy District Election Officer Srinagar, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz while interacting with the students, teachers and locals urged them to act as ambassadors of SVEEP in their locality and encourage others to participate in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

District Nodal Officer, SVEEP/AMF, A.H.Fani also urged the students to carry forward the message regarding the right to vote to their family and participation in nation-building through elections. He emphasized the role of SVEEP in educating people about the electoral process. He added that SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote.

During the electoral Awareness programme, the Students delivered speeches, besides Specially designed selfie points with SVEEP themes like My Vote My Future, and Nothing Like Voting I Vote for Sure were set up.

The Students/People/Tourists were enthusiastic about clicking selfies at the selfie point. While the tourists present in the Tulip Garden Srinagar also enjoyed the programme.

As part of the campaign, a variety of cultural programmes including Band Peather, Short Skits, Jingles, Local Rouf etc related to electoral awareness and the Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections were held to encourage youth, especially first-time voters to participate in the electoral process. Youth from various schools of Srinagar District participated in the daylong event.

A signature campaign was also conducted in which all the participants actively participated and an oath was administered at the conclusion of the event, emphasizing the importance of voting and assisting those unable to reach Polling booths.
