Gulmarg to host Mega Voter Awareness programme on April 2nd

BARAMULLA: In preparation for the Mega Voter Awareness event scheduled to be held under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative at world-famous Ski-Resort, Gulmarg, on 2nd April, the District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today visited Gulmarg to finalize the arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the event.

During the visit, the DEO conducted a thorough review of the arrangements and conducted on-site inspections of several venues including Khilan Marg, Kongdori, and Afarwat which is the highest peak in Gulmarg, to ensure the successful execution of the mega event which aims to enhance electoral literacy and raise awareness about election procedures to empower voters, especially first-time voters, to actively participate in the electoral process.

Minga Sherpa also held a meeting with the officials and directed them to make all the possible arrangements to ensure maximum participation of the public especially young voters to encourage them to participate in the upcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024.

The event will feature a range of activities such as snow skiing, skating, snow biking, snow cricket, and more. Additionally, election officials will be conducting sessions, disseminating vital information about the significance of participating in elections, aiming to encourage greater public engagement during the elections.

Notably, the Mega Voter Awareness programme in Gulmarg is part of a series of impactful events including a snow festival at Ladoo Ladoora, Boat racing at Watlab, a snow sporting event at Tangmarg, Shikara Rally at Eco Park among others, organized by the district administration Baramulla under the SVEEP initiative, aimed to promote awareness about the electoral process throughout the district.

The DEO was accompanied by a team of officers and officials during the visit, including the Chief Executive Officer, GDA, SDM, Gulmarg, District Information Officer, Baramulla, ARTO Baramulla, Nodal Officer SVEEP, election officials, and others.
