Two persons held in murder case at Sopore

Sopore: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a middle-aged person in north Kashmir’s Sopore, officials informed Wednesday.

They said yesterday night a family informed the Police Post Warpora, Sopore, about their kin — Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, aged 55 – having gone missing since 7 PM in the evening.

A missing report was lodged and several search teams were deployed to locate the missing person, police said, adding that searches continued throughout the night. Today morning the dead body of the missing person was recovered from an orchard area of Dooru, Sopore, following which a murder case (FIR No.53/2024 U/S 302 IPC) was registered at Police Station Sopore.

The victim’s body was sent for necessary medico-legal procedures before being given to his family for last rites.

“A thorough investigation was taken up which reveals personal animosity as the motive behind this heinous crime. Police have got hold of key evidence, and two accused persons have been apprehended and the investigation is going on,” police said.
