3 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore and Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.

He said in Baramulla, at a checkpoint at Hospital Crossing Tangmarg, 50 grams of contraband cannabis was recovered from the possession of Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Sultan Wani of Chountpathri Tangmarg, who was subsequently arrested.

In Pulwama, at a checkpoint near Railway Crossing, brown sugar-like substance concealed in a polythene bag and a digital weighing machine was recovered from the possession of Irfan Ayoub Khan, son of Mohammad Ayoub Khan of Begumbagh. He too has been arrested.

In Sopore, one Muhammad Altaf Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar, resident of Mumkak, Sopore was arrested after a raid at his residence yielded huge quantity of psychotropic substances including 2016 capsules of spasmoproxyvon (84 strips), police said.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
