PDD employee arrested in bribery case in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a Power Development Department employee for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6500 for providing an electricity connection in the Soura area of Srinagar.

In a statement issued here, a spokesperson said that Javid Ahmad Raina, son of Mohammad Yousuf Raina of Gund Pora, Rampora Bandipora was arrested red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6500.

The statement reads that a complaint was received from the complainant, alleging a demand of bribe by a PDD employee, for providing an electricity connection.

“Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 06/2024 U/S 7 of PC Act 1988 was registered with PS ACB Srinagar and an investigation was taken up,” it reads.

It added that during the course of the investigation, a trap was laid and the accused official was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.

The statement added that further investigation into the case is going on
