Director Agri visits SMF Tapper Kreeri, Floriculture Farm Nunar Ganderbal

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited the seed multiplication farm (SMF) Tapper, Kreeri to take stock of the agriculture activities, and developmental works there.

He visited different blocks and polyhouses at the farm and held discussions with concerned officers and technical experts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director expressed satisfaction over the production/productivity of different vegetable crops. He reiterated the department’s commitment to ensure a sufficient quantity of seed/seedlings of different agricultural crops is made available to the farmers of the region well in time.

He said that a special project for the promotion of vegetables in the region is being implemented under HADP.

Iqbal highlighted the importance of introducing new varieties of different agricultural crops (with more production and productivity) at the farm and helping farmers of the area to get acquainted with the benefits of introducing such varieties. He said that departmental Farms are becoming centres of excellence in terms of different innovations in the field of agriculture.

The director also discussed some innovative ideas regarding the cultivation of different crops with the officers and technical experts of the farm. He asked the concerned officers to adopt the latest technologies during the cultivation of different crops so that the same could be replicated in the farmers’ field comprehensively.

He also kick-started the 4th phase of vegetable seedling distribution among the farmers.

Earlier, Farm Manager S.M. Farm Tapper gave a detailed presentation of various agriculture activities at the farm. He also informed the Director regarding the new technologies that have been adopted during the cultivation of present crops for the first time at the farm.

Later, the Director visited the floriculture farm Nunar Ganderbal and took stock of the developmental works there.
