Vizzy Trophy 2023-24: KU star cricketer Mehran Nisar to represent North Zone

Srinagar: Mehran Nisar, Kashmir University’s star cricketer, has been selected to represent the North Zone in Vizzy Trophy 2023-24, scheduled to be held at Guwahati from March 10. KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofar Khan felicitated Mehran Nisar Monday here.

Vizzy Trophy is a national-level tournament, being organised by the AIU (Association of Indian Universities) in collaboration with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), an official statement issued here read.

Presenting Mehran with a token of appreciation, Prof Khan congratulated him on his selection to the team and wished him luck in the competition. The token presented by the KU Vice Chancellor to Mehran will cover his airfare and other expenses, read the statement.

“The university acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES), especially the cricket coaches, Sakeena Akhter and Amjad Qadir, for working hard for the development of the particular sport on the campus,” Prof Kahn said while expressing her desire to see the sports facilities flourishing under the DPES.

KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal also congratulated Mehran Nisar for his selection in the team while praising Mehran’s dedication that earned him the place in the Vizzy Trophy.

Special Secretary to KU Vice Chancellor, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Zari, also congratulated Mehran Nisar for making the university proud.

Director, DPES, Dr Mandeep Singh, assured full support to Mehran and all other KU athletes who brought laurels to the university.

Mehran Nisar thanked the Vice Chancellor, for her encouragement and also thanked the KU Registrar, Director, DPES and the cricket coaches for supporting him and assuring him of making the university proud, the statement added.
