Srinagar: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani on Thursday chaired an important meeting at Srinagar Party Office in which he (Wani) received feedback with regard to ongoing preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

JKPCC Chief also reviewed the organizational affairs and activities in all the districts of Kashmir.

Addressing the meeting, the JKPCC Chief urged the Party Leaders and District Congress Committee Presidents to work harder and ensure public support to defeat the propaganda and misleading politics of the BJP. The meeting threadbare discussed other challenges concerning the Party and resolved to continue fighting for the restoration of democratic rights in J&K, which have been snatched by the BJP leaving the J&K public unrepresented and unheard.

On the sidelines of the meeting, JKPCC Chief Vikar Rasool Wani also briefed the media on the farmer’s condition and expressed anguish over the BJP government’s denial to resolve the MSP issue. He said our farmers are at Sindhu Border fighting for their rights for the last two years in which 700 people got killed. Their only fault was they were demanding a legal guarantee on MSP, but in response, they were being assaulted and tortured for projecting their demands.

It is very unfortunate that farmers are being attacked through drones, besides the concertina wire and other instruments used to stop them, which shows how anti-farmer is BJP Govt at the Centre, they (farmers) will not back up, they will fight for their rights and the Congress Party shall continue to support their demands.

Wani further said that the Congress party assures the farmers of the country that the Minimum Support Price will get a legal guarantee, it will be implemented in the new Govt formation at the Centre, and then the farmers will be free to sell their production wherever they like. Congress will ensure equal treatment and redressal of grievances to farmers from any part of the country.

Referring to the denial of democratic rights in J&K, Wani said J&K has been without any representation for the last seven years. The BJP Govt from time to time used the security situation as an excuse for delaying the elections, Now that the second term of the BJP Govt is coming to an end, besides the code of conduct is being enforced again in view of the Lok Sabha Elections, the ECI should also conduct assembly elections in J&K to ensure that public elect their own Govt without any further loss of time. When the situation is conducive for Lok Sabha Elections, why not for Assembly elections, why the BJP Govt is shying away from Assembly elections in J&K, Wani questioned and said that BJP knows the people of J&K have rejected them for adopting anti-people policies and dividing the full-fledged state into two UT, besides snatching the democratic rights.

On the question of seat sharing in J&K, Wani said that seat sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections will be announced shortly. INC, NC and PDP will fight the elections with great vigour and will ensure the victory of INDIA Alliance candidates on all five Lok Sabha seats in J&K with a thumping majority.

Former JKPCC President Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Sr. Vice President G.N.Monga, JKPCC Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, Secretaries, DCC Presidents and others attended the review meeting.
