‘Terrorist associate apprehended in Kupwara’

Kupwara: Less than 24 hours after a security forces operation, another terrorist associate was arrested in the border town of Kupwara.

The suspect was found in possession of arms and ammunition.

Reliable sources told Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Scroll that the police apprehended a person on Friday, identified as Asif Mushtaq Wani, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Wani from Galizoo Kupwara.

The apprehension took place during a surprise checkpoint jointly established by the Kupwara Police, PC Kupwara, 47RR, and 162 CRPF near BEd college Dragmullah.

According to sources, the individual attempted to flee upon realizing the presence of the joint security forces party but was successfully apprehended after intense efforts.

During the search of the suspect, a Chinese-made pistol, one pistol magazine, and six pistol rounds were recovered from his possession.

An official, confirming the incident, told Kashmir Scroll that a case FIR No 37/2024 has been registered under relevant sections of the law at PS Kupwara, and an investigation is underway.

Pertinently, on Thursday afternoon, security forces arrested terrorist associate during a checkpoint operation in the Gundimacher area of Kupwara. (Kashmir Scroll)
