Mir Iterat Haideri leads unique anti-drug campaign across India on two wheels

Srinagar: In an unprecedented effort to combat the scourge of drug abuse, Mir Iterat Haideri, a young cyclist hailing from Srinagar, has embarked on a remarkable journey spanning six years.

Taking a distinctive approach, Haideri has become the first youth in India to wage a war against drugs on the wheels of his bicycle.

Residing in Lal Bazar District of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haideri has tirelessly worked to raise awareness about the perils of drug addiction among the youth of Kashmir. Since 2018, he has been traversing various regions of Kashmir on his bicycle, aiming to deliver a powerful message urging the youth to shun drugs and embrace a life of positivity.

“I have waged the war for the last 6 years against drugs in Kashmir in different ways & this war will continue till my last breath,” affirms Haideri.

Undeterred by the challenges, Haideri’s crusade has taken him to remote corners of the region, including Kargil and Ladakh, as well as distant cities like Jammu and Chandigarh. His arduous journeys serve as a testament to his unwavering commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse.

Haideri’s remarkable feat has earned him widespread acclaim from all sections of society. His cycling expeditions have not only captivated the attention of the public but have also garnered appreciation for his indomitable spirit and noble cause.

Among his notable achievements are:

Full Kashmir Coverage: Haideri covered the entirety of Kashmir, spreading awareness about drug abuse.

Srinagar to Gulmarg in Chilai Kalaan: Braving minus 12-degree temperatures amid snowfall, Haideri embarked on a historic journey.

Srinagar to Kargil & Back: Completing the challenging route in a remarkable time of 35 hours and 30 minutes.

Srinagar to Gurez & Back: Covering the arduous journey in a remarkable span of 22 hours.

Srinagar to Jammu & Back: Completing the journey in two days, Haideri extended his campaign beyond the borders of Kashmir.

Srinagar to Chandigarh & Back: Undertaking a week-long journey to spread his message to distant cities.
