Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Tuesday said roads in Srinagar continue to remain in shambles, putting locals in a lot of inconvenience.
Sagar in a statement said, “The roads in the city are full of potholes and travelling has become very difficult. Some roads have not been macadamized in the last few years. Authorities are delaying macadamization for reasons better known to them. Apart from causing problems for local commuters, bad roads in and around the city are tarnishing the image of the city as a tourist destination.”
“Usually roads are blacktopped during the start of the summer months but during last year authorities failed to macadamize city roads on time,” he said adding, “Srinagar’s old city, roads appear to have been repaired ages ago. Though there are certain spots where the roads were repaired, those repairs did not last long. Several road patches in the old city have been rendered completely useless.”
