Program at Town Hall Kupwara witnessed a significant boost with the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan who graced the occasion as the chief guest. She shared inspiring words with the women artisans, urging them to step forward and take advantage of government initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), TEJASWINI, and other relevant schemes.

Assistant Director MSME GoI, Saheel Alaqband, emphasized that the primary objective of these programs is to aware and support artisans who are willing to establish their own micro-enterprises within the handicrafts sector.

Alaqband highlighted the richness and export-oriented nature of Kashmir’s handicrafts, making it a pivotal sector for economic growth. By supporting artisans through entrepreneurship Schemes, the Ministry aims to not only preserve the rich heritage of Kashmiri handicrafts but also to create sustainable livelihoods.

During the programs, allied departments, including Handicrafts and Handlooms, District Industries Centre (DIC), and MSME, provided briefings about the various schemes they implement to support artisans. This comprehensive approach ensures that artisans are well-informed about the available resources and opportunities.

An integral part of the programs was the opportunity for artisans to interact with successful artisan-cum-entrepreneurs. These interactions provided valuable insights, inspiration, and practical knowledge to aspiring entrepreneurs in the artisan community.

The Assistant Directors of the Handicrafts and Handloom Department in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts played a crucial role in ensuring the success of these programs by offering support and collaboration at the ground level.

The Ministry of MSME remains committed to fostering entrepreneurship, preserving cultural heritage, and contributing to the economic development of the region.
