Srinagar: Police have arrested a “notorious” drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession, a police spokesman informed Monday.
He said at a checkpoint established at Juhama Market, police intercepted and later arrested one Mohammad Ayoub Shah, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Ladoora Rafiabad, after 270 grams of brown sugar-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla for further investigation, police said.
Meanwhile, a drug peddler was arrested in Rajouri district with 7,000 banned tablets on Monday, police said.
A police team intercepted the accused Sheikh Aza (32) in Rajouri town and recovered from him a huge consignment of banned drugs, they said.
The seized consignment contained 7,000 banned tablets of tramadol and tapentadol, the police said.
The accused was arrested and a case was registered against him.
