Srinagar: Police in Budgam have solved a theft case by arresting one accused person and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from his possession, a police spokesman informed Sunday.

He said on January 12, Police Station Magam received a written complaint from some shopkeepers of Magam market about their shops having been burgled during the preceding night. A cab (JK04-9558) was also stolen.

After registering a case, during the investigation, some suspects were rounded up and some leads followed resulting in the arrest of one Himayat Hussain Mir, son of Mohammad Hussain Mir of Yagipora Magam, police said.

After analysis of CCTV footage, the stolen vehicle was traced near Hygam Sopore, and goods worth lakhs were also recovered, police said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on and some more arrests and recoveries are expected.
