Dir Sericulture chairs preparatory meeting for “Resham Krishi Mela”

SRINAGAR: A preparatory meeting was held in the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar under the chairmanship of the Director Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat for the upcoming Resham Krishi Mela at P4 Basic Seed Farm, Manasbal.

During the meeting, the Director emphasized the significance of the Resham Krishi Mela and said that departmental stalls would be installed during the event scheduled for 17th January in which about 500 farmers shall participate.

The Resham Krishi Mela aims to guide farmers and youth in establishing units for self-employment and fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region.

Dir highlighted the department’s commitment to supporting unemployed youth and farmers. He urged them to actively engage with the department to avail benefits of the various schemes introduced by the Government for their welfare.

He exhorted upon the officers present in the meeting that the Farmers and Silkworm rearers should be made aware of the department’s efforts to make Mulberry leaf reserves readily available, implementation of Technological Intervention, Development of Rearing Infrastructure at the farmers’ level, Supply of Chawki Reared Worms to the farmers for ease in Rearing, Up-gradation of Seed related departmental infrastructure for the production of quality Silkworm Seed and skill development of farmers.

Bhat further emphasized upon the Officers to adopt a proactive approach to implement all the schemes of the department in order to achieve all the objectives envisioned in HADP.

The Director Central Sericulture Research & Training Institute, CSB, Pampore, Dr. N.K. Bhatia and the officers from the department participated in the meeting.
