Hopeful for long-awaited Assembly elections, restoration of Statehood in J&K: Dr Mustafa Kamaal

JAMMU: Dr. Mustafa Kamaal, Additional General Secretary of J&K National Conference today met with senior colleagues at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan in Jammu and extended heartfelt greetings on the first day of the New Year 2024.

Expressing optimism for peace and prosperity in the region, Dr Kamaal conveyed his sincere hopes for a brighter future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

While interacting with the senior colleagues of the party Dr. Kamaal expressed optimism that the Assembly elections would be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court, highlighting the importance of adherence to legal processes for a transparent and democratic electoral process in the state. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the people in the absence of an elected government and emphasized the need for a representative administration to address the concerns of the populace effectively.

“The aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir can only be truly reflected through their elected representatives,” he said, adding “Holding Assembly elections and restoration of Statehood are not just constitutional obligations, but crucial steps towards restoring democracy and ensuring the holistic development and peace of the region.”

The senior NC leader urged the authorities concerned to expedite the election process and pave the way for a democratically elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Kamaal reiterated the commitment of the National Conference to serve the interests of the people and work towards the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir. He affirmed that the Party will continue its efforts to engage with the community, foster dialogue, and contribute to the democratic process in the region.

Prominent among those who were present in the meeting include Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President of Jammu Province, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary of Jammu, Bushan Lal Bhat Ex-MLC, Bimla Luthra Ex-MLA, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell, Vijay Lakhshmi Datta, Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone, Farooq Mughal, S. Nirmal Singh, Jatin Bhat, Amit Koul, Veer Ji Bhat, Sumita Bhan and others.
