JAMMU: Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, today reviewed the implementation of the MoU-Working plan 2023-24 under the Eat Right School (ERS) Initiative being implemented through the Food and Drug Administration, J&K, in collaboration with the School Education Department.
The secretary had an elaborative discussion on different aspects of the initiative while demonstrating all the necessary steps to attain Eat Right certification by all the schools in 25 identified clusters (125 schools).
Bhupinder Kumar asked the Directors of School Education Jammu and Kashmir to fast-track the notification/nomination of two Health and Wellness Ambassadors/coordinators in each School and their subsequent registration, training and certification on Eat Right School (ERS) initiative on the designated portal within weeks time. Subsequently, activities under the applicable ER Matrix shall be conducted in the registered schools, which will be properly uploaded on the portal.
Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration J&K was directed to take a fortnightly review with the directorates involving Divisional level Nodal Officer from the Food side as well as from the Education side forming a core team of proactive and dedicated human resource.
The secretary further directed all the stakeholders to work in close coordination and cooperation to attain the desired targets.
Bhupinder Kumar laid emphasis on being responsible stakeholders we need to inculcate sustainable dietary habits in children who are agents of change in society. This can be attained through curricular and extracurricular activities on the Eat Right theme in schools on a regular basis, he added.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, J&K, Director of School Education Jammu, Personnel Officer, Directorate of School Education, Jammu and Joint Director, School Education Department.
